There has been some pretty odd quotes flying around today from Chelsea Director Marina Granovskaia.
She collected her award last night for Best Club Director at the Golden Boy Awards, which is an Italian Awards show.

For starters, she admitted that she didn’t even know what the award was! Then she went on to be questioned about Chelsea’s Italian connections at the club, with obviously the Awards ceremony being Italian.
Chelsea have a great history with some fine Italian players and coaches at the club, but Marina admitted that lately it is probably more of a ‘German period’ with more Germans at the club.
It was an odd line of questioning really, but Marina looked as though she handled it well with some good responses, that just sound odd unless you know the context!
So now you do know the context!
As reported by Football Italia, here is what she is quoted as saying.
“It’s strange to receive a personal award for team’s achievements,” she said as quoted by Tuttosport newspaper.
“I didn’t even know it existed, by I am excited to receive it, because it’s the result of the team’s work.
“There isn’t a secret to Chelsea’s successes.
“Or at least, I don’t know it. Otherwise, it would be easier to win year by year. But I know that there is daily teamwork and communication behind every success. Chelsea are a great team on and off the pitch.
“Now we have [Carlo] Cudicini in the staff and Jorginho on the pitch,” Granovskaia said.
“We are not as Italian as we used to be, perhaps this is a German period, but the bond with Italy is still very strong and will never end.”
