Ian McGarry, former proper journalist and now peddler of half-invented transfer rumours (imagine doing that for a living!) has been on his Transfer Window Podcast speaking about the future of Thiago Silva.
Like several of his teammates, the Brazilian is out of contract this summer, and is likely already fielding offers from all over the shop ahead of the 1st of January, when he can officially sign a pre-contract somewhere.
According to McGarry, Silva has a serious offer from the Middle East:
“It is our information that we have obtained here at the Transfer Window that Thiago Silva has a significant financial offer to continue his career in the Middle East, which of course in terms of money would be attractive because it would be tax-free and the leagues of course are not overly competitive. But Silva himself is extremely competitive,” the journalist is quoted as saying in the Daily Express.
Unlike some of his colleagues, it’s always seemed most likely that Silva stays put for at least another year. He may be 37 but he’s holding up just fine in the Premier League, and is playing as a key player in the very biggest games. Would you throw away two more tilts at the Premier League and the Champions League for a bit more cash?
Thiago doesn’t seem the type.
