Interviewed after today’s loss to Man City, Thomas Tuchel explained that he was not actually downbeat about large parts of his team’s performance. He liked the attitude and the fight.
But he identified where Chelsea’s game had broken down – in the conversion of turnovers and good midfield moves into chances:
“So many good deliveries… we give to our offensive players and they don’t create chances. That was the problem today,” he sighed.
He’s basically blaming the front 3, which he himself picked. It looked an odd selection, and it worked out that way.
