Chelsea were thoroughly outplayed by Man City today, but Thomas Tuchel still wanted to defend his team’s performance. He pointed out that they had shown great mentality and attitude, and that they had won the ball plenty of times in promising ways.
He did note the latest defensive disruption – playing Malang Sarr today, having had to use almost every possible combination of his central defenders in recent months.
That was definitely a factor, and we can agree that Chelsea did well in periods against a very strong City team. Tuchel is right to defend his players.
