We’re been hearing all day that Chelsea are up for sale, and things are moving quicker than ever.
It was all but conformed by potential buyers today that Roman Abramovich was going to sell the club, and he’s now released a statement on the club’s website which confirms that.
He insists that its sale will not be “fast-tracked” as has been speculated. He will not ask for “any loans to be repaid” – the club owe him £1.5bn, and will also donate all the net proceeds from sale to a charity set up to help the victims of the Russian invasion of the Ukraine.
He thanked supporters and pointed out that it has been an “incredibly difficult decision to make,” one that he has taken purely because he feels it is in the best interests of the club.
He adds that he hopes he can return to Stamford Bridge “one last time” to say goodbye to the fans in person.
There is a huge amount to come on this, as we digest all the repercussions and the possible time scale of such a sale. One thing is for sure – everything is about to change at Chelsea.
The most unfortunate situation that Abramovich would selling be Chelsea Club. The fans, the club supporters love the way he has supported the Club financially. He is a kind hearted person, and very passionate about the Club. The fans will never forget about him. Can Chelsea be the same after Abramovich era, only time will tell? I love him and I wish him the best in life.
