We still don’t know who will own Chelsea in a month’s time – but we do know who won’t own Chelsea.
Saudi Media have just announced that they haven’t been put forward as a “preferred bidder” by Raine Group, as reported by Nizaar Kinsella of Goal.com.
The consortium, headed by Chelsea fan Mohamed Alkhereiji, have told Kinsell that they are disappointed not to be put forward – and also want more answers as to why they aren’t in the select handful who will continue in the race.
A key concern for Raine Group is ensuring the sale is made quickly, and that means choosing bidders who are likely to get a quick green light from the government. While Saudi Media insist they have no connection with the Saudi Arabian royal family, it appears it was considered too big a risk of slowing down the sales process, and easier options have been preferred.
