Roman Abramovich returns Chelsea shares in preparation for sale

A document ha been published on Companies House website showing the return of Roman Abramovich’s Chelsea shares in readiness for them to be assigned to a new owner.

Interestingly they’re valued at £61m, although it’s all totally theoretical, and we know that the sale value of the club is going to be in the billions, not millions.

We’re no experts on what all this means, but it’s clearly the next stage in the sales process.

Now the government, the Premier League and the EU have approved the deal, it’s just a question of the transfer of funds from Todd Boehly to the frozen bank account where they will be held, and then the transfer of all the complex paperwork like this to make the club his.

Essentially, all that’s missing now is the announcement. Todd is probably getting a haircut now in preparation for the photo shoot – let’s hope so.
