We have started hearing more and more about the links between Chelsea and Jonathan Clauss in recent days, and today Nizaar Kinsella dropped a piece on the right back which strongly indicates he’s had word from sources at the club that the rumours are true.
He notes a potential cost of just £10m for the 29 year old, who is a Chelsea fan and also apparently interesting Atletico Madrid.
🚨 Chelsea have made initial contact over signing France international Jonathan Clauss:
– He could replace Azpilicueta
– Costs around £10m
– He supports #CFC
– Atletico also want him: https://t.co/3brT0o5FwK— Nizaar Kinsella (@NizaarKinsella) June 21, 2022
Kinsella is only willing to go as far as saying that Chelsea have made “initial contact” over a deal, but to us that’s quite convincing confirmation of some action.
It is a move that is proving divisive among fans, with some comparing it to the Davide Zappacosta signing, when Dujon Sterling is a capable backup.
On the other hand, Clauss has had an exceptional season in a top 5 league, while Sterling looked pretty average in the Championship last season by all accounts.
