Marina Granovskaia is on her way out as Chelsea’s top dog on the football side, leaving a big gap for Todd Boehly to fill, at a crucial time.
He’s a clever man with plenty of experience running sports teams, but he has no experience managing scouting networks and negotiating transfers, and if he wants to replace Marina, he had better do it fast.
One name now being linked as a potential replacement in Spain is Andrea Berta, currently performing a similar role at Atletico Madrid.
AS.com say that he’s being lined up to come to Chelsea, and that it’s a move that could happen pretty easily.
The Italian has overseen the rather dodgy signings of Joao Felix and Thomas Lemar in recent seasons, but previously had a good record building teams for Diego Simeone.
He’s described as “uncomfortable” at Atletico, meaning it should be too difficult to prise him away.
