Chelsea interested in 36-cap Dutch international to replace departing defenders

Chelsea are currently making plans to replace two departing defenders this summer, with potentially even more joining them.

There will be a few holes to plug this summer for Thomas Tuchel and the new Chelsea owners in the Blues defence, let’s just put it that way.

Chelsea are growing in confidence of signing Ousmane Dembele this summer.

A name has been suggested as one replacement for either Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, and that is Juventus centre-back, Matthijs De Ligt.

According to TalkSPORT today, Chelsea are interested in the 36-cap Dutch international this summer and could make a move for the 22-year-old.

His experience and quality could be something that appeals to Chelsea as they look to replace experienced departing players.

There is a long way to go yet though, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will bring in one or two new centre-backs this summer, and they might even need more defenders than that depending on circumstances.
