Ethan Ampadu will be going to the World Cup, after playing his part in a Wales win this afternoon.
The Welsh faced a tough task against a Ukraine team which had the will of the world behind it, as well as a load of emotional charge pushing them on.
They showed against Scotland in the last round that they are full of quality and technical ability too.
But Wales did a great job against them, and Ampadu did a brilliant job playing in a back three.
He’s long been a regular for his country while struggling for minutes at club level – this season he’s played plenty, and has added way more Wales caps to his collection too.
He’s still just 21, and while he doesn’t look as set for a Chelsea starting spot as he did in years past, he’s definitely got the ability to play a role for us – maybe even this year.
Yes. He is a product of Exeter City academy, which also produced Ollie Watkins, and made his Wales debut while still at Exeter. Unfortunately we received very little compensation when Chelsea took him.
Let’s hope he can find a PL club which will give him more opportunities.
