After reports last night of Chelsea closing in on a £34.4m deal for Manchester City defender Nathan Ake, it seems to have been put to a halt.
According Manchester Evening News’, Simon Bajkowski, Manchester City would ‘not consider’ letting Ake leave without having a replacement lined up.
Bajkowski then claims it would take ‘more than’ £50m from Chelsea for the Citizens to even ‘consider’ letting the Dutch defender depart this summer.
The report mentions Pep Guardiola has a ‘general rule’ that any players who want to leave the club can do, but only if an ‘acceptable’ offer arrives on the table.
I definitely feel there is a negotiation to be done here, since he is one of Tuchel’s main targets for defence.
If Ake expresses his desire to leave City and his camp really push the move, I feel there is a deal on the cards.
Early days still in the transfer window, with plenty of twist and turns ahead.
