Armando Broja went straight from Chelsea’s youth teams to a loan in Holland with Vitesse. A good season there lead to a Premier League spell this time around with Southampton, and more impressive showings there mean that teams of an even greater stature are now being linked – including Napoli.
The Italian side are potentially going to lose target man Victor Osimhen this summer, and Broja seems to be on their list of potential replacements.
So open is their interest that Broja’s qualities were being openly discussed on local Neapolitan radio station “Radio Kiss Kiss,” a place we only ever usually discuss when Jorginho’s agent is opening his big mouth.
“I’m very pleased with Napoli’s interest in Broja, because we’re talking about an excellent player. He’s a movement number nine, not like Osimhen, he has other characteristics,” former Napoli player and current pundit Erjon Bogdani said in quotes picked up on SportWitness.
“We are talking about a young player, 2001, even if Chelsea sent him on loan for two years they’ve always believed in him. This year, he played as a starter for the first year, which is not bad for such a young player. It’s not easy in the Premier League, there are many champions, and he played really well.”
We can’t imagine Chelsea would want to sell the forward yet, but a loan with an option to buy is very possible.
Equally, a lot will depend on what happens with Osimhen. He will fetch a big fee, but a move for him could take all summer to sort out, so Chelsea, Broja and Napoli have all have to be patient to see how things shake out.
