New threat for Chelsea transfer emerges just as Blues think they have it done

It’s felt like Chelsea have the signing of Jules Kounde in the bag for a long time now.

We came close to completing the deal a deal ago, only to fall out over the price. So with a year having passed, and our interest still strong, it seems inevitable that he will eventually join.

But complacency can be dangerous – and it seems like Barcelona are still in the race.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, probably the world’s number one transfer insider. He says Barcelona have “serious interest” in the Sevilla defender. That’s worrying, certainly in terms of driving the price up.

To be honest, the whole rumours doesn’t sound very convincing. They’ve just signed Ronald Araujo to a new contract, they just signed Andreas Christensen from us, they have the experienced Gerard Pique and the young Eric Garcia as backups.

Kounde seems like overkill for a club that has massive financial issues.
