Romelu Lukaku’s infamous interview with Sky Italia came out just before Christmas last year, and it felt like everything went downhill from there.
For a long time we were convinced that things were recoverable, but according to Gianluca Di Marzio as quoted by Sempre Inter, things were already well on their way to collapse by then.
He claims that Lukaku had contacted Inter about a return way back then, just 5 months after his £110 signing from the Italian club.
That’s pretty appalling, and shows why he seemed to have so little intent to earn his place in the team back after that.
For a club which has made a real habit of disastrous transfers, this is possibly a new low.
At least, hopefully, having had so many months of contact, they’ve figured out a way of making a deal to get him back there happen this summer. We’ve seen it as financially impossible, but the more we hear about the whole affair the more we’re desperate to get rid of him.
