Now that the season is over, itβs a great chance to look back at the stats from the season just passed and try and make sense of the stats and numbers.
One interesting thing to consider is the possession battle. Chelsea are one of the stronger teams in the league, and under Thomas Tuchel they play a fairly possession based style, so they tend to dominate the ball.
In fact, there were just 7 games where the Blues had less possession than their opposition.
Just one of those games ended up as a win β a 2-1 victory over Watford in December where they had 51% of the ball to our 49%.
There were then 4 draws β including the two cup finals against Liverpool which we lost on penalties β and two defeats (both against Manchester City).
Our lowest possession of the season was 35% against Liverpool back in August, when we had Reece James sent off early on.
