Rewind to Christmas, and Southampton were absolutely delighted with Armando Broja.
His loan was going extremely well, and it looked very likely that the Saints were going to try their best to keep him on a permanent deal, perhaps with a buy-back clause similar to the one put into the deal that took Tino Livramento to the South Coast a year ago.

But now it’s the summer and rather than going all out for the striker, Saints have retired from the race.
Alex Crook of TalkSport explained why. The wages that Broja wants are too high, and the transfer fee Chelsea want is too high.
That’s probably no surprise – now much wealthier teams like Napoli and West Ham are involved, Southampton simply can’t compete.
That’s good news for Chelsea ultimately, but there’s still a lot of question marks about whether the Blues should actually be selling him, given their striker situation.
