Chelsea’s tug of war with Barcelona over Leeds winger Raphinha finally looks to be over, with the Catalan club now agreeing to pay the same as us.
Until now they’ve been using their leverage to agree a lesser deal – knowing that the Brazil star wants to come to them more than us – but Leeds have held film, and Ben Jacobs of CBS is saying that now the Catalan club have grudgingly agreed to pay the same final fee as us – albeit over a longer period.
Leeds just want to get a deal done at this stage.
In the end this is a blow – Raphinha is a player the club wanted and one we were really excited about. But it’s been almost a week since we found out that he was holding out for Barca’s bid, so we’ve not been hopeful of getting him since then, and we’ve already largely moved on.
