West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Armando Broja permanently from Chelsea.
It’s a sale that’s generating a lot of unhappiness from Chelsea fans, who don’t want to see another young talent leave the club – especially in a position we’re already short in.
That’s generating a lot of question marks about Thomas Tuchel and the club’s thinking about these moves.
But David Ornstein’s update on the striker’s status makes it very clear that it’s Broja’s camp who are pushing for this switch.
He wants regular first team games, and despite Romelu Lukaku’s departure he clearly doesn’t think he can get it at Chelsea.
The fee is understood to be £25m plus another £5m in bonuses, at least it was in the initial offer last week.
We can probably get them to go higher than that, but whatever price we get, some fans are going to be desperately unhappy at our decision to let him go.
