Chelsea close in on £1.5m left footed talent

Chelsea have made a real effort to strengthen their youth team this summer, and they’ve managed to secure some top talents despite the struggles finding first team players.

The next to join looks to be Tyler Dibling from Southampton. CaughtOffside today cited Fabrizio Romano, who says that the England U17 international is set to join for a £1.5m fee, following in the footsteps of fellow South Coast talent Zak Sturge, who is joining from Brighton.

The 16 year old attacking midfielder has shone in the Saints academy, and went viral for an amazing hattrick in the youth team last season. His majestic left foot is understandable attracting attention from top clubs – but Chelsea appear to have won the race.

The coordinated attempt to strengthen the youth teams comes after the development squad was almost relegated last season, as part of a slightly negative ongoing trend in the fortunes of our age group sides.
