Chelsea finally close to beating Barcelona to £51.1m Jules Kounde

Chelsea are close to agreeing a fee for Jules Kounde with Sevilla.

It will bring to an end the transfer saga that has dragged on for over a year, with the France defender identified long ago as a player who could step in to replace Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen should they leave.

The two clubs couldn’t agree on a deal a year ago, but now that the two Blues have left the club, our need has grown great, and according to Simon Philips we’re on the verge of a £51.1m transfer for Kounde.

Personal terms have roughly been in place for a year with the player, who is keen to step up to a top Premier League team.

Barcelona’s late challenge appears to have been fought off, and now it should be a matter of days until we see Kounde in Blues. He looks a good tactical fit, and motivated to shine
