Chelsea have today been linked with another central defender as their desperate summer goes on, in this case quite an unlikely link.
The Blues have spent the last couple of weeks locked in negotiations with Juventus for Matthijs De Ligt, but recent days have seen a trend towards a move to Bayern Munich for the defender.
Chelsea alerted to potential Dayot Upamecano availability.
If Bayern Munich land Matthijs De Ligt, as they think they will, Chelsea could look at the man he is likely replacing.

According to Graeme Bailey of 90min.com, the Blues have been alerted to the availability of Bayern’s own Dayot Upamecano, should the De Ligt to Germany happen.
This all sounds rather unlikely to us. Niklas Sule was the spare man in Bayern’s back line and he’s already left this summer. De Ligt would be coming in to replace him, there’s no way they would sell off another first team defender and put themselves back where they started.
Upamecano had a good first season in Munich and Bayern would be looking to pair him with De Ligt, not replace him.
