Gabriel Jesus has moved to Arsenal from Manchester City in a move that seriously strengthens our London rivals.
Not content with signing a good player, they’re rubbing it in our faces by telling us just how much Chelsea wanted to sign him.
Arsenal fan and journalist Freddie Paxton has quotes from Jesus’s agent Marcelo Pettinati, who said that Chelsea “tried to hijack the Arsenal move.”
Thomas Tuchel’s team apparently “tried very hard in the final days to get him.”
âš ï¸ New insight into the Gabriel Jesus transfer. His agent, Marcelo Pettinati, tells me:
“Chelsea were one of the teams that tried to hijack the Arsenal move. They tried very hard in the final days to get him. By that point, we’d already chosen our new project.â€#AFC pic.twitter.com/xLYtPe7CQL

But Jesus had been persuaded by Mikel Arteta’s project by then, at least that’s according to Pettinati. We can see why – Jesus would be a great fit for our new looks flexible forward line.
Of course, we reckon we would have persuaded Jesus that we had a better project, but by the time the takeover was complete and our old recruitment staff had been sacked, his move to Arsenal was already way down the line.
