Chelsea’s squad is a bomb-site: but Tuchel knew what he was getting himself in for

Chelsea’s squad are finally out on tour in LA, and now they’re all together we see how much of a motley crew they really are.

This squad is a bit of a mess now all the loan players are back, and we can only imagine what Thomas Tuchel is thinking right now.

Still, he can’t say he wasn’t expecting this. His quotes in the Daily Mirror from May reveal that he was more than aware of what was about to happen when players started leaving the squad only to be replaced by returning loanees.

“We are rebuilding, not improving the squad. We are rebuilding. This is always challenging but we are up for the challenge.”

This is as bad as things will get, to be fair. We’re hopefully at the nadir of the whole operation, with first team starters having left the group and no signings yet having come in to replace them.

That, combined with the whole cluster of returning loanees who have been unwanted by several managers in a row, give the group a really shoddy feel right now, one that should diminish as we get rid of the deadwood and bring in a few new faces.
