Chelsea’s purchase of Kalidou Koulibaly is “expected to be closed tomorrow” for a €40m fee, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, the former transfer king of Europe.
The Napoli defender will join after years of being linked to Premier League teams, with Chelsea ramping up their interest in the last couple of days after Matthijs De Ligt decided he preferred a transfer to Bayern Munich.

After a slow start to the window as they geared up following their takeover, Todd Boehly and his group have shown themselves to be decisive negotiators.
The Jules Kounde deal was killed off right away, the move for Raphinha failed ultimately, but there was no haggling with Leeds. The Raheem Sterling offer transfer has gone very smoothly for one that big, and a move for Nathan Ake is also progressing.
Getting transfers right is more important than doing deals quickly – but it’s promising to see nonetheless.
