Mason Mount explains what he learned from visiting the biggest sporting events of the last fortnight

Mason Mount has had quite the couple of years, going from Championship player to England regular, and he certainly deserved his break over the last month.

Despite being off duty for Chelsea, he certainly didn’t hold back on the sport in general, and he went to two of the biggest global sporting events of the last month – Wimbledon and the Silverstone Grand Prix.

His comments to the Chelsea official website about what he had learned from visiting these two top tier events in his field:

“I was lucky enough to go to another F1 race. It was my second race of the summer, at Silverstone, and I was also able to go to Wimbledon,” Mount said in quotes on the Chelsea official website.

“I’ve never been before so to go and see Djokovic play up close, coming back from two sets down and looking like he could lose to then win three in a row, it was amazing to see that live.

“I’ve been to the O2 Arena to watch tennis before but when you’re at Wimbledon, it’s totally different, the feeling of it, and what a professional Djokovic is, and he has obviously gone on to win it.”

Mount is a born winner, but there’s still plenty he can learn from the elite sportsmen competing at these kinds of things.

So while he wanted him to have a nice time relaxing and taking a break, there’s nothing wrong with soaking up a few life lessons along the way. Now he’s back doing hill sprints in preseason, he must remember exactly how Djokovic and Hamilton felt when they were under pressure, doing their thing.
