When Chelsea News interviewed Fabrizio Romano way back in November, it was already clear that Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen were likely to leave the club.
One of the potential replacements that came up was Matthijs de Ligt, the Juventus defender.
Back then, he pointed out to us how unlikely it was, simply because of how much Juve had paid for him from Ajax.
Since then, he’s really changed his tune, and now that the Dutchman is top of Chelsea’s list, Romano explained in his column on CaughtOffside what has changed.
He pointed out that there are “real possibilities” because De Ligt “wants a move to the Premier League”, something he didn’t know before.
There’s also some discussion of Kounde, who he has always said is likely to join Chelsea. According to him, the France man was a favourite of Marina Granovskaia, who has now been very much ousted by Todd Boehly, explaining his drop down the list of priorities.
