Raheem Sterling’s move to Chelsea hasn’t been announced yet, but there’s plenty of articles already published as though it was all signed and confirmed.
Take this piece in the Evening Standard, which outlines how we ended up here, with the winger about to sign for us for £45m.
It claims that Sterling has joined Chelsea because of a “personal pitch” from Thomas Tuchel, after he lost his guaranteed starter status at Man City.
It also notes that there was “some interest” from pretty much every big team in Europe, from Bayern Munich, Liverpool and PSG to Real Madrid.
But the Blues and their charismatic coach won out in the end – one would imagine the temptation of moving back to London was pretty great too.
Sterling is apparently “excited” by the prospect of being a key player for Chelsea rather than a bit part player for City, and we hope it works out like that.
