Chelsea have done something that I personally don’t ever remember happening at this club. They have terminated the contract of a player by mutual consent, allowing him to leave as a free agent.
I am all for this by the way, as harsh as it may seem. But the bottom line is that it is actually probably best for all parties. It might seem embarrassing for the player, but at least now he is free and able to negotiate with a new club without a fee or loan fee to think about.

Chelsea confirm that Ross Barkley has left the club by mutual consent and becomes a free agent, even though he still had another year left on his contract, meaning an agreed termination of his contract. Chelsea would probably have had to pay him off some money, but still, this is a hugely wise decision for the club. Barkley was never going to play again for Chelsea, let’s be honest.

Is very good idea from the Chelsea board and the technical team to offload some players. Better still not make their carrier’s goes wasted.
For Barkley to have a mutual termination of his contract is good for him to fight extremely well to secure his position in the three lions team. I wish him well in his next step.
