Another week has passed, Chelsea have conceded another 3 goals, and have accordingly submitted another bid for Wesley Fofana.
Their problem is that Leicester also lost at the weekend, so the price they’ll likely pay seems to be rising at every end.
David Ornstein – one of the few people who we believe word for word on these things – say the Blues have submitted a third offer for the defender today.
They apparently are “reluctant” to pay more than £70m, including add ons, for the centre back.

Leicester are hoping for more than that, so as Ornstein says, it will all come down to what kind of add ons are organised.
At this point, both sides will be desperate for the deal to be done so they can get on with getting their stuttering starts to the season back on track. Leicester want to spend the money, Chelsea want to get the player in to Cobham ASAP.

Does this mean the club has failed to find cheaper alternatives with experience in the EPL?£70 million for a young player seems extremely steep.
