It’s been confirmed this afternoon that Callum Hudson-Odoi has joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan for the season.
That’s a great move for him, and we hope it works out. But it changes the situation for other players in the squad.
Chelsea seemed to be chasing another wide attacking option even before CHO’s departure, and that must now be a priority.
Certainly we can’t see the club selling any other attacking options while we’re still looking to buy, and that means Christian Pulisic is staying put for now.
That idea is backed up by ESPN’s James Olley, who writes that the USA winger is “increasingly likely” to stay put for another year, despite both he and the club being open to a departure this summer.
That might change if we complete a deal for Anthony Gordon, but until then, Captain America might have to unpack his bags and settle down for another tough year.
