Two pieces of fairly inconsequential evidence have done the rounds today pointing towards a Hakim Ziyech return to Ajax.
First, the images of a private jet flying from Leeds to Amsterdam after the game yesterday.
Secondly, Ziyech’s brother’s Instagram post featuring Hakim in his Ajax days.
In isolation, we wouldn’t reach much into either. Together, they do tend to point towards a move for the winger.
But if he does move, what do Chelsea do next? Ziyech is not playing as much as he would like, clearly, but he’s not a total outcast. He came on in yesterday’s game to try and change things up, let’s not forget.
Thomas Tuchel may well want him gone, but unless there’s a better option available somewhere in Europe, we should think very carefully before sanctioning a cut price sale.
Before we know it, we will be panic buying a player less good for more money.
