Leicester miss out on Chelsea talent as they search for Fofana replacement

When it became clear that Chelsea were letting Levi Colwill go to Brighton on loan, we knew that the Blues must have a defender close to signing.

In the end the deal to sign Wesley Fofana took longer than expected, but it’s now done.

Interestingly, Ben Jacobs reports that the Foxes would have considered Colwill as a replacement for the France international. But they will now have to look elsewhere, with the academy product already settling in on the South Coast, his potential move to the King Power now out of the question for good.

Still, there’s also an argument that we wouldn’t have been able to get the Marc Cucurella deal over the line without the tempting makeweight of Colwill to send to Brighton in return, and in the end we have Fofana anyway.

As long as Colwill gets lots of Premier League minutes this season, all will be well.
