Thomas Tuchel receives one match suspended touchline ban

Thomas Tuchel has been fined by the FA for his comments and conduct during and after the game against Tottenham last week – but he’s yet to find out whether he will get a touchline ban.

The disciplinary panel are awaiting the outcome of an appeal from the Chelsea coach.

Both Tuchel and his opposite number Antonio Conte were in trouble after scraps on the touchline, and Chelsea’s manager made things worse with his comments about the standard of refereeing after the game.

Tuchel has in theory been given a one game ban, but it won’t be applied until the independent Regulatory Commission has considered if the punishment matches the crime.

It’s not clear whether VAR official Mike Dean’s confession in the Daily Mail that he had indeed made a mistake in not sending off Cristian Romero for a hair pull will play into the case, given it was the major reason for Tuchel’s frustration.
