Tuchel refuses to answer Fofana question – then says Chelsea need another defender

Thomas Tuchel has been speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s game against Tottenham, but inevitably the chatter was as much about the transfer window as anything else.

He was asked about Wesley Fofana, and flatly refused to answer.

“No matter how good your question will be, I will not comment,” he said with a twinkle in his eye in comments picked up by Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard.

It’s standard polite procedure among Premier League managers to now be too obvious about questions like this. But the comments that followed that showed pretty plainly that the Leicester player is under strong consideration.

“We could do with one more central defender,” Tuchel mused, allowing those listening to draw the line between those two innocent points.

We reckon the deal is now coming down to the final few million here and there, and barring anything unforseen will happen soon. Tuchel will have his central defender, and we will be looking in really great shape for the season.
