We’re sitting here waiting for Chelsea’s game against Southampton, but in the meantime there’s some interesting news coming out about previously unreported interest in PSG’s Idrissa Gueye.
He will rejoin Everton on a two year deal according to the well connected Loic Tanzi after a summer of negotiations between the two teams,, but there was significant late interest from Chelsea in the midfielder.
According to Tanzi, Gueye has decided to rejects the Blues’ interest because he had already given his word to Everton. It’s amazing to hear that such honour exists in football.
He had a disappointing spell in Paris, but we can see why Chelsea might be interested. He’s available for a relatively low price as they reshape their midfield, and he’s got the legs and defensive instincts to play a role that we don’t have many (any) existing options in.
It seems we will have to keep looking, however.
