There was so much business going on at Chelsea on the final day of the transfer window that it was quite hard to remember there were a number of players who didn’t get a move they probably needed.
Chief among them was Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is going into the second year of his loan at AC Milan as very much a spare part.
The Italian side clearly want rid of him, and have been leaving him out of their matchday squads to start the season. Football Italia write that there was some expectation that his contract would be terminated.
Chelsea are happy to have this hot potato off their hands, and while it would be better for them if he was playing somewhere, they clearly are just happy to have someone paying his wages for another year.
Let’s hope for everyone he can get some minutes in Milan, it’s a sorry situation right now, with nobody benefitting at the moment.
