Chelsea’s talks with N’Golo Kante have gone “very quiet” according to Fabrizio Romano speaking on a podcast today.
The France midfielder’s contract runs out a the end of this season, and as it stands he will leave on a free contract it seems.
He’s still a vital player for Chelsea, but his injuries have got worse and worse over the years, and he’s already been out for a month this season, which is barely two months old.
🚨 Chelsea are in real danger of losing N’Golo Kante, very quiet at the moment and if it continues like this, serious chances he leaves. Graham Potter and the new director will need to discuss together with Todd Boehly to decide. (@FabrizioRomano @QueGolazoPod) #CFC

In a way, it might be better to take a clean break and let him go, even if that does make us worse in the short term. Seeing him drop out of the side mid-season has ruined a few campaigns for us now.
There’s still plenty of time left for a deal to be sorted however, and if Todd Boehly wants to secure him, we’re pretty sure he will be able to make him an offer he can’t refuse.
