Chelsea’s bid for Russian wonderkid pushed back to January

The last few days have seen Chelsea strongly linked with Russian talent Arsen Zakharyan, but the most recent news is that it’s not happening.

You won’t get a much more official source than the player’s club itself on Twitter, and that’s just what happened today with Dynamo Moscow explaining the midfielder’s situation.

If your Russian isn’t that strong, the full Tweet is translated here:

“Arsen Zakharyan remains at Dynamo. On August 25, Dynamo received an offer from Chelsea regarding the transition. However, due to a number of technical reasons beyond our control, it is impossible to transfer the player to this [transfer window]. It was decided that Arsene would continue to play for Dynamo.”
It essentially backs up what we’ve heard elsewhere. Chelsea want him, the player wants to move and his club are happy to take the money, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the resulting sanctions make deals like this very hard to pull off.
Other sources are confident that the deal can be pushed back until January, when the picture might be a little clearer.
