Former Blue says ‘Graham Potter will face up to this’ ahead of his first match in charge

Games do not come any bigger than the Champions League for domestic club football, it is the most prestigious competition to be playing in.

And tomorrow, Graham Potter will manage his first ever game in this competition but not only that, it will be the small matter of it also being his very first game in charge of Chelsea Football Club. Talk about pressure.

But it is a pressure that has been made even more dramatic due to Chelsea sacking Thomas Tuchel last Wednesday morning, and then announcing Potter as their new manager the day after. It all happened so quick, and it shocked and angered the Chelsea fanbase, who were very well connected with Thomas Tuchel.

However, attentions will now turn to fully backing Potter and getting behind him for the big UCL clash against Salzburg tomorrow evening. And former Chelsea player Pat Nevin believes that Potter will be more than ready to face up to it.

Writing in his latest column on the Chelsea website, Nevin says: “There is the small matter of a Champions League football match tomorrow night and after slipping up in the first one in Zagreb, this is getting close to be a must-win already if we want to be sure to progress. Some things never change for the Chelsea boss, whoever he is, but Graham Potter will face up to this.”
