Graham Potter is currently getting prepared to take charge of his first game as Chelsea manager tonight.
It just so happens that the game is a Champions League night at Stamford Bridge, so they don’t come too much bigger than that. The nerves will be setting in right now amongst Potter, the players, and the Chelsea fanbase. And there will be a lot of fans trying to guess what formation and line up that Potter will be going for and wondering if he will be making any changes or keeping it the same.
Sources: Chelsea very close to appointing new Director of Football!
He’s had a few days to train with the new players now, so there is a chance we might see some surprises. And former Manchester United midfielder Luke Chadwick believes there are two players in particular who Potter can get the best out of.
I’m wondering if Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech will get a chance tonight.
In an interview with Caught Offside, Chadwick says: “Potter’s teams play a lot of exciting, possession-based football, they get players in attacking positions and try to create chances.
“I’m sure Potter will be looking at gifted players like Pulisic, Ziyech, Havertz … they’re some of the best attacking players in the Premier League but haven’t fulfilled their potential. So I’m sure Potter will try to find the best system to get more out of those attacking players and get the team playing a bit more of a stylish, expansive brand of football, like we saw at Brighton.”
