Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was willing to say yes to Chelsea to take over as their new manager, but the club always had Graham Potter as their main target.
Pochettino was removed as PSG manage earlier this summer after a messy 18 months there, with his reputation damaged by not entirely ruined. His good work at Tottenham still gives him a lot of credit, and he’s going to be back in the Premier League before too long.
Mauricio Pochettino was ready to say yes to the #Chelsea job, but Graham Potter was always Todd Boehly's first-choice.

But Fabrizio Romano insists that Todd Boehly and co. always had Potter in mind, and once it became clear that the Brighton coach was interested, Pochettino’s chances faded to nothing.
He will have to wait a little longer for a chance to come back to manager in the English top flight.
So with any luck, not only will we appoint a top manager, we also got to reject a Spurs favourite along the way.
Delightful!
