Former USA keeper outlines assumed plans for Gabriel Slonina at Chelsea

Chelsea will be gaining a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window, a deal that was already done back in the summer.

The club have a current situation with their own goalkeepers and neither futures of Kepa Arrizabalaga or Edouard Mendy are what you can call nailed on as such.

Sources: Chelsea start scouting in USA and have an interest in Leeds United player.

Gabriel Slonina was signed from Chicago Fire in the summer and then loaned back to his club until the end of their season in the MLS, which happens to be in January.

There has been a lot being said about what the plans will be for Slonina and whether he will be ready to come in straight away and compete for a starting spot at Chelsea, or whether he will be sent out on another loan move for his development.

To be honest the latter is what appears to be most realistic right now, and former USA goalkeeper Brad Friedel agrees.
