With the very sad news of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week, football fixtures were cancelled over the weekend.
As the country and the world continue to mourn, football bosses and TV companies are desperate to get next weekend’s fixtures played, with fixture congestion potentially becoming an issue.
Chelsea are set to play Liverpool in London on Sunday, which happens to be one day before the Queen’s funeral. This could obviously create problems around policing in the capital city and creates doubts over the fixture.
The Daily Mirror report that Premier League fixtures are set to resume next weekend. They are hoping to get as many games on but face a major challenge in London with policing.
The TV companies, clubs and Premier League are desperate to get the games on and will look at different options, potentially moving kick-offs and switching days have been discussed.
