Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed for Chelsea at the start of this month despite having a broken jaw, and he played his only minutes for the club so far with a protective mask on.
It sounds like that phase is almost over. Not only was it noted by Nick Purewal of the Press Association that PEA took the mask off for a section of training today, there’s also the fact that after tomorrow night, we don’t have a game for more than a week.

You never know how much these things actually affect players. On the one hand it’s hard to imagine it not being a little distracting and uncomfortable, especially when it comes to headers; on the other hand when you’re out there and the adrenaline is pumping, maybe you just forget about it entirely?
Either way, it sounds like the striker will be mask free by the time we play our next game on the 6th of October.
