Chelsea look to be desperately seeking to sign a new midfielder before the window closes this evening, being linked to a few names late last night.
Nothing appears close yet with any of them, and it will be tough to get one signed before the window closes at 11pm tonight.
Sources: Chelsea set for busy deadline day with Todd Boehly ready to treat it like ‘draft day’!
There is a new name on the list who they have registered an interest in, according to Sky Sports this morning. That is Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.
They claim that Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have all been tracking the Brazil international, and they even go as far as to say that one club are set to make an official offer of £20m today. But they don’t name which club.
Luiz is out of contract at Villa Park at the end of the season and is keen to play in the Champions League.
There might be some issues there between him and Steve Gerrard as well.
