The four countries Chelsea are prioritising as they work on “multi-club” model

Nizaar Kinsella was on the London is Blue podcast today, talking about Todd Boehly’s latest big week in the headlines.

The new Chelsea owner outlined his intentions to buy multiple clubs around the world to support the “mothership”, and today Kinsella explained the four priority countries.

Brazil is there for obvious reasons – it’s perhaps the greatest source of exceptional but affordable talent in the world.

Then there’s Portugal – the standard stepping stone for South American players coming to test the waters in Europe.

Belgium provides a similar drop off point, but more focused on players from Africa.

Then there’s the USA, not yet as dominant in terms of producing players for European teams, but with the most potential for building a profitable fanbase and club to funnel support back to Chelsea.

We don’t expect them all to come at once, but this project is going to be a serious one.

  1. This is an excellent move in that, it will be easy to pick talent for the main Chelsea team in England.
