Often after two games Chelsea have 6 points on the board and are already thinking about finishing top versus resting their starters. Not so this time.
To make things worse, they’ve got their two hardest games still to play. Graham Potter only managed his first Champions League last night, and next up he has to face a double header against European giants AC Milan.
It’s a true baptism of fire, and not the soft start Potter would have wanted. But we can’t help but feel it might be good for him. Rather than dead rubbers he’s got must win games, and while he will be judged harshly if we lose those games and fail to qualify, it also gives him the chance to earn some really meaningful wins before Christmas.
There are a lot of doubts about his pedigree, but making it out of this group now would be a great achievement to start clearing them away.
