It very much looks like Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard is on his last legs as Villa boss after defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
The Telegraph believes that Gerrard is preparing for games against Fulham, at Craven Cottage on Thursday night, and Brentford, at Villa Park on Sunday, that could seal his Villa fate. Others are reporting that it might even come sooner than this.
Sources: Chelsea monitoring Juventus midfielder, as well as Southampton goalkeeper!
Villa want former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino to replace Gerrard should they decide to sack him. But if he is not attainable, then the same report from above claims that more ambitious checks could be made on former Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, who is of course still out of work after being sacked by The Blues.
I don’t for one minute believe that Tuchel would even consider that job offer if it came, but stranger things have happened in this sport!
I can actually see Tuchel taking over from Gareth Southgate as England manager after the World Cup, if anything.
