Chelsea staff pleased with some of the ruthless moves from their new owners

Chelsea haven’t played many home games recently, so perhaps Simon Johnson took this chance to chat to some of the staff at Stamford Bridge, now that 6 months have passed since the new ownership took over.

They have ruthlessly changed huge numbers of people within the club structure, and while outsiders have expressed plenty of doubts about that, an anonymous staff member at the club was very positive about it all in conversation with Johnson of the Athletic.

Apparently “there are those who are pleased and optimistic about what is taking place” – despite the redundancies.

Even more juicily, “the departure of some individuals has been regarded positively.”

We all know exactly what that means. Some of those who were removed were clearly not too popular with their subordinates.

It will take a long time for the effects of the changes made at the top of the club to take effect, and so we can’t make judgments on whether some of these moves were right or wrong. But it’s very interesting to hear from those inside the club that there are positive feelings about this summer’s cull.
